“In our current day of heightened oversight and increased accountability the role of board governance is critical to achieving compliance. The FPWA Governance Project prepares candidates to assume the responsibility bestowed on an active board member. This preparation allows for confidence in leadership, awareness of mission, team building around the vision of an organization and understanding of fiduciary responsibilities.”
- Chris Quinones, member agency Board Member and Governance Project graduate

The Governance Project

The Governance Project is designed to help strengthen nonprofit boards and achieve diversity. The project goal is to increase participation of people from diverse races, ethnicities, ages, genders and skill sets, providing different perspectives and resources and making organizations more reflective of the populations they serve. Suitable professionals are recruited as candidates, trained in current board practices in our “Informed Leadership” series, and placed at member agencies.
