The New York City Council has just struck a blow for fair wages and decent pay, and against illegal activity. It contributed $500,000 to support day-laborer hiring sites across the city. City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and her colleague Carlos Menchaca went to one site on Bay Parkway in Brooklyn this month to make the announcement.
